This report was commissioned by LINK, the UK’s ATM network, in response to concerns that a lack of access to free-to-use ATMs in deprived areas of the UK may be causing detriment for specific groups of consumers. Our research uncovered that 950 communities across the UK were without access to free-to-use ATMs. 16% of the UK population live more than 1km away from a free-to-use ATM. Those with limited mobility, sole carer requirements, or those who find it difficult to travel away from their home are the ones who experience the most detriment as a result of the lack of access to free cash.
